Holy Synod

In the center, in the white klobuk, is the President of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Angelos (Anastasiou) Beotias of Avlona and to his right Metropolitan Chrysostomos (Celi) of Ecuador and All Latin America, Archbishop Kyrillos (Bezerra ) of Cearà and Northeast Brazil, Bishop Vicar Porfyrios (Alexandrou) of Martyropolis, Administrative Secretary of the Synod, Vicar Bishop of Bithynia Cherubim. To the left of Metropolitan Angelos is Metropolitan Christophor of Tblisi, Metropolitan Ioatam of Abhazia and Vicar Bishop Gabriel of Pamphilia. Below are the Archimandrites Amphilochius, representative of Bishop Jean de Lougdounum (France), and Agatangelos Synod Secretary.

In 2010, the Holy Synod granted a Tomos of Autonomy and created the Eparchy of Ecuador and Latin America.   His Eminence Metropolitan Archbishop Chrysostomos is the First Hierarch and Administrator for 20 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haití, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá, Paraguay, Perú, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela.  In addition, by virtue of his proximity to the lands of North America, Metropolitan Chrysostomos is entrusted with the spiritual care and oversight of the Church’s missions in North America.
